Status Conference

Status Conference Research Vessels

The Status Conference Research Vessels is an integral part of the process for ship time allocation. The status conference regularly takes place every two years, organized by a host marine research institution, with the support of GPF office and PTJ on behalf of BMBF. The purpose of the Status Conference is to achieve national networking and public visibility for German marine research. It is designed as an attractive conference with a public profile. There, the Chief Scientists present the key scientific results of each cruise.

The Status Conference Research Vessels 2020, originally scheduled to be held from 24th March - 25th March 2020 at ICBM Oldenburg, had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The scientific contributions to the conference were summarized in a conference proceedings volume, which is available for download under the following link.

Status Conference Research Vessels 2022

The Status Conference Research Vessels 2022 is scheduled for February 22 - 23, 2022. Two years after completing a cruise, Chief Scientists and lead PIs of cruises with the research vessels ALKOR, ELISABETH MANN BORGESE, HEINCKE, POSEIDON, METEOR, MARIA S. MERIAN and SONNE are invited to present their results.

Originally, it was planned that the Status Conference takes place at the Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM) at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. However, due to the pandemic this could not be maintained. In view of the renewed tense situation, the Status Conference Research Vessels 2022 will take place as an online format instead.
